He’s a Nigerian lawyer, politician, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and a human eights activist.

Femi Falana was born on the 20th of May, 1958, and he’s a native of Ilawe, Ekiti state, Nigeria.

He obtained primary and secondary education at St. Michael’s Primary School, Ilawe and Sacred Heart Catholic Seminary between respectively.

After finishing up with secondary school education, he gained admission into the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he studied Law and was called to bar a year after he graduated from the University with a degree in Law.

Just before he was called to bar, he worked for a stint at Public Complaints Commission between and practiced with his profession as a lawyer working with the Alao Aka – Bashorun & CO firm.

In 1991, Femi Falana founded his Chambers – Falana & Falana Chambers.

In 2007, Femi Falana contested for the post of the governor of Ekiti state under the National Conscience Party, but lost the election to an opponent.

He served as the National Chairman of the National Conscience Party in 2011.

He’s a respected lawyer in Nigeria, and has held the post of the president of several professional association including the West African Bar Association.

He’s a Member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Pan African Lawyers Union, and International Bar Association.

Femi Falana also has won several honourable awards including the Dr Kwame Nkrumah leadership award in 2003, The Ogoni Merit award in 2002, and Defender of the Year award in 2000.

In 2012, he became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and he’s married to Funmi Falana – a women’s rights activist.

He’s the father of popular Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter, and online comedian Falz the Bahd Guy.
